Living In Agoura
One of the most desirable places to live in California is the city of Agoura, which is situated in Los Angeles County. With a population of 20,330, it is located near the Santa Monica Mountains, 38 miles from downtown Los Angeles. The city has a total of 8.2 square miles of land and 0.04 square miles of water. It is popularly known as the “Gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area”. The city of Agoura also includes areas identified as Agoura Hills and Oak Park.
As with all of the United States, the original settlers of this location were the Native American Indians. Next came the Spanish, who built a Spanish Mission in the Agoura Hills and Ranchos. The city was named after an 1871 French immigrant named Don Pierre Agoure, who was a legend in the area. It wasn’t until 1982 that the residents voted to become a city. Following this there was a tremendous growth.
This area has an immense area of wildlife, California chaparral and woodlands, as well as hundreds of local plant species. Residents have access to approximately 500 miles of trails in the parklands and surrounding areas. This provides the opportunity for exploring, hiking, camping, and enjoying other recreational activities.
Agoura Hills is well known as a place of live music, and originality, in the nu metal scene. Acts such as Incubus, Dead By Sunrise, Fort Minor, and others, became famous from their experience in this area. It is also known, throughout the world, for its concert venue and hosting national and regional touring acts. There are a number of concerts held in the local Chumash Park during the year.
Excellent schooling for children, from pre-kindergarten through high school, is available in the city, with colleges located nearby. There are Art Galleries, entertainment, monthly events, performing arts, and other places to pursue one’s personal interests. In sports there are a number of Adult and Junior Leagues, as well as numerous other activities available for both children and adults.
The weather is excellent for anyone wishing comfortable living. The temperature data, in 2011, shows a low of 69 degrees in January and a high of 97 degrees in August. Precipitation was 39 inches in January and 57 inches in July. Shopping is available in numerous stores and boutiques.
Easy freeway access to the famous 101 freeway for the city of Agoura Hills, Agoura and Oak Park makes it convenient to reach and visit areas like Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, and Los Angeles. It assists in easy access to lakes, walking trails, the beaches and more..
