About Simi Valley

Simi Valley, California- Located on the southern end of Ventura County and borders the San Fernando Valley to the north, totaling over 42 square miles of land. Simi Valley was originally inhabited by the Chumash Indians and was called Shimiji because of the threadlike clouds that are often seen in our skies. In the 19th century, Thomas Scott (Pennsylvania Railroad President, and land owner) began selling off parcels of land to citizens for farming and orchards. While there are still several farming areas in Simi Valley, today Simi Valley real estate is largely residential.

Simi Valley has over 124,000 residents, but is family oriented and listed as one of the safest cities in America. We have renowned school districts and parents often take their children out of private schools to have them be apart of Simi Valley School District. With over 20 parks and preserves, there are plenty of places to enjoy hiking, horseback riding, picnics with the family and recreational sports. Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District (http://rsrpd.org/) makes it fun and easy to take part in community events. They host several classes, swimming programs, after school clubs, senior activities and sports teams for children and adults. The city boasts 7 golf courses, dog parks, public pools, trails and community centers. One of the largest attractions Simi Valley boasts is the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library where you can dine and learn about our nation’s history (http://www.reaganfoundation.org/visitor-information.aspx).

This beautiful city is surrounded on all sides by mountain ranges and is centrally located to both Los Angeles and the Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Simi Valley homes are only 30 minutes from the beach, 45 minutes to the lake, and an hour from Santa Barbara and Downtown Los Angeles. The 118 freeway runs along the north end of the city connecting you to the 23 which allows you to easily explore the surrounding areas like Malibu and Calabasas. We have easy access to Amtrak and Metro link railroads making commuting and visiting surrounding areas inexpensive and convenient. While travel is a cinch, with all that Simi Valley has to offer, you rarely have to leave. There is every restaurant imaginable from 5 star steak houses to convenient drive-thrus.

Every night starting at about 4:00 pm, the local residents are seen walking their dogs and children are riding bikes and playing in the streets and parks. We’re graced with beautiful sunsets almost every night and because of our wonderful climate, it’s rarely too cold to enjoy everything this city has to offer.  There are two areas within Simi Valley that are well known, Wood Ranch and Big Sky.
