About Simi Valley
Simi Valley, California- Located on the southern end of Ventura County and borders the San Fernando Valley to the north, totaling over 42 square miles of land. Simi Valley was originally inhabited by the Chumash Indians and was called Shimiji because of the threadlike clouds that are often seen in our skies. In the 19th century, Thomas Scott (Pennsylvania Railroad President, and land owner) began selling off parcels of land to citizens for farming and orchards. While there are still several farming areas in Simi Valley, today Simi Valley real estate is largely residential.
Simi Valley has over 124,000 residents, but is family oriented and listed as one of the safest cities in America. We have renowned school districts and parents often take their children out of private schools to have them be a part of Simi Valley School District. With over 20 parks and preserves, there are plenty of places to enjoy hiking, horseback riding, picnics with the family, and recreational sports. Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District (http://rsrpd.org/) makes it fun and easy to take part in community events. They host several classes, swimming programs, after-school clubs, senior activities, and sports teams for children and adults. The city boasts 7 golf courses, dog parks, public pools, trails, and community centers. One of the largest attractions Simi Valley boasts of is the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library where you can dine and learn about our nation’s history (http://www.reaganfoundation.org/visitor-information.aspx).
This beautiful city is surrounded by mountain ranges and is centrally located in both Los Angeles and the Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. We have easy access to Amtrak and Metro link railroads making commuting and visiting surrounding areas inexpensive and convenient. With home prices rising, Simi Valley Condos are becoming more and more of an easy way to “get into the market” for people who can’t or do not want to pay the higher prices for homes.
