Life in Westlake Village

Westlake Village, to an outsider, seems to have a bit of a split personality. The city is divided by a county boundary line between Ventura County and Los Angeles County. To residents, however, it is a unified, master-planned community. Home to several large corporations, such as Dole Food Company and J.D. Power and Associates, Westlake Village maintains a strong economic infrastructure. Projected job growth in the area is set at 26.68 percent.

Westlake Village is an affluent community that prides itself on its low crime rate and seclusion. Located just north of the hills of Malibu, it offers plenty of open space for outdoorsy types. Hiking trails abound for fitness buffs and horse lovers will find plenty of equestrian trails on which to ride. Many movie stars and music personalities call Westlake Village their home.

Shopping in Westlake Village is a dream. Farmer’s markets and specialty grocers dot the community. Westlake’s most popular mall, The Promenade at Westlake, offers not only shopping, but over 10 restaurants as well. Plans at the Promenade call for a luxury cinema offering reserved seating, a full bar and restaurant and reclining leather seating.

The lake in this beautiful community offers lots of activities for residents and visitors to the area. A man-made oasis, Westlake Lake was constructed back in the 1960s. Even before the lake was filled, Los Angeles newspapers promoted Westlake Village as a community offering “. . . A New City In The Country.” Westlake Yacht Club provides sailing lessons and holds numerous events, such as regattas and boat parades, throughout the year.
